This year’s 22nd annual ADG/Erna Lindner-Gilbert Scholarship is offered by the American Dance Guild and Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival (located in Lee, Massachusetts) for the “Choreographers’ Lab”:dancer. choreographer,educator. This workshop program will be directed by Celeste Miller and Lisa Donovan. The scholarship covers tuition, room and board from August 24-31, 2010 (Transportation to the Festival is not included.)

The American Dance Guild Scholarship Award was created in 1987 and funded until 1994 by a generous endowment from Fannie Weiss and her daughter, Shirley Weiss Epstein. In the years 1995 to the present Dr Lindner-Gilbert has provided funds for the workshop scholarship. The aim is to provide a talented dancer with the opportunity to enhance her/his training in a professional dance school. The award carries with it recognition of achievement in the field which will benefit the recipient’s future career in dance.

1.Applicants must be at least 20 years of age
2.At least two years of advanced dance preparation is recommended. A strong focus on dance professionalism is essential. Studio and college dancer/choreographers are invited to apply.

Application Requirements
1.One completed application form with typewritten essay responses and a brief biography
2.One letter of recommendation from a dance authority (professional dancer, critic, writer/researcher, teacher) who can provide written judgment of the applicant’s past and/or potential dance achievement Plus a short list , with addresses, of dance mentors/teachers who have encouraged you.
3.One VHS half inch videotape or DVD of the applicant’s choreography. If applicant is performing in video, give identification specifics. Tape should be cued to an excerpt not more than five minutes in length. Provide SASE with sufficient postage for return of video.
4.A $35. Application Fee. Do not send cash-Make checks payable to American Dance Guild.
5.Self-addressed, stamped postal card for confirmation of the receipt of your materials.

Adjudication:
1.Applications will be reviewed by the ADG Scholarship Panel and a representative of Jacob’s Pillow.
2.The award winner will be chosen on the basis of choreographic ability as demonstrated in the videotape, the applicant’s commitment to dance as indicated by supporting materials, and the attitude and potential to continue in the dance field as reflected in the letter of recommendation.
